About the event
In this workshop devoted to tonal study (also known as ?grisaille?), the crucial first step toward developing a portrait, students have time to practice the process of interpreting color-as-value as they build the foundation for a painting/portrait and to develop a sense of light. Students will ?draw? with paint and concentrate on facial proportions and the ?likeness.? Workshop participants are free to use the time to study either the portrait close up or the full-clothed figure.
Students work from the live model with a single color of oil paint. Some drawing experience recommended. Demonstrations, handouts, and plenty of one-on-one feedback provided at the easel.
Please note: This workshop is a precursor to a Spring 2020 workshop, which will focus on color mixing and flesh tones.
